NOTES: Impressive w-t-w from Sajim, holding off Penny Music. Tarki's jockey was able to prove the foul by Light and Illusion, and that horse was moved down a place. Centennia Shaymaa's jockey called foul against both Little Grand Echo and Arlando, but since she didn't show that she had anything left late, his claims were dismissed.

NOTES: EXTREMELY close finish- it took over ten minutes for the stewards to examine the photo with magnifying glasses and determine that Miras Taj Mahal had won. Sidi Al Aztar's groom was heard to say on the way back to the barns, "That boy's just got a longer nose than you, Sid, don't you feel bad about that."

NOTES: Awesome performance by LS Bint Czubuthan today, showing us all what the perfect stalking trip looks like! Unfortunate early bump with Silvona and SSR Fidilat, inquiry ruled that both horses weaved slightly towards each other and there was no foul.

NOTES: Wonderful stretch battle really made this an exciting race! In the stands afterwards someone was heard to say "Looks like a second-place day for Ashley!" but when challenged, no one would admit to the remark...

NOTES: Lives up to the hype! The two horses started as one, but Jazz N Blues looked to be pulling away from the filly at the half, even opening daylight between them into the final turn! But as they entered the stretch, All The More began to move up and closed the gap, taking the lead for several strides mid-stretch befoer Jazz N Blues reacted and fought past her again! An excellent race from two top competitors! (*Both horses were dead even in the pre-race points so I used the Express poll results to determine the betting favorite!)

Most Talked-About Horses: Of course all eyes are on the Battle of the Champions Grade One Stakes, known colloquially as the East/West Challaenge. This is a race which may be held again solely for past Flatirons Track Champions to challenge each other!
The superstar filly All The More has had royal treatment ever since she set foot on the earth. A daughter of MSW Monarch AH-r and the queen of North Star Stud, Beyond the Moore, All the More moved up the juvenile ranks quickly in 2001, winning her first 2 outings, placing in a Stakes in her third race, and then winning in her next Stakes attempt. This tenacious bay filly is known to her fans as the ATM Machine because she's never been out of the money in any of her races- indeed, never worse than third. The 2001 Flatirons 3yo Filly Champion, Region A Champion 3yo, and Model Darley 3yo Filly Champion is looking to prove to the 2002 Darley HOTY voters that she is a champion again with a win today!
The Cinderella-story colt Jazz N Blues was an Express Yearling Auction bargain- bought only because Ashley liked his name. From the first crop of his young sire Biloxi Blues, and out of a well-bred but unraced mare that had only produced one winner, the grey colt didn't look the part of the champion racer as a yearling. Jazz N Blues broke his maiden in his second race and has never been worse than fourth since, winning many prestigious ITR Stakes races. Lightly raced thus far in 2002, with a Stakes win and a Stakes place. The 2001 Flatirons 3yo Colt Champion and Model Darley 3yo Colt Champion seeks to solidify his 2002 Darley HOTY prospects early with a win today!
