Ray Warwick
It has been Sharon and Gail's observation that most people react to true
supernatural phenomenon (such as Sharon being healed by a lightning bolt)
by ignoring them. Even people who profess to believe in miracles or claim
to be open minded will go to great lengths to ignore what is right in front of
them if it does not match their belief system. Whether this is mere human
nature or some other force in action is not known... but it seems there are
some, like Ray Warwick, who do not turn a blind eye to the supernatural.
Ray Warwick is a member of an organization known as Perivigilum, or
simply “Vigil,” and part of his job is to track down and investigate supernatural
occurrences. Where others gloss over what they don't understand, Warwick
delves deeper into finding the causes. The power outage caused by Sharon
on Independence Day attracted his attention to Stella Wincott and her
granddaughters, while the scant records of Sharon's miraculous healing
cemented his notion that something extraordinary was going on.
The reason behind his and Vigil’s interest in the supernatural is not clear,
yet he appears to place a very high priority on finding out more about
Sharon and Gail Curmen. In the course of his investigations, he has befriended
Lily under the guise of her gentlemanly Bridge partner. When introduced to
Stella, however, he described himself as a “servant of the Lord,” and actually
appeared to transform into an angelic being before her. Warwick’s true powers
and nature have yet to be fully revealed, but he has been identified as one of
the top seven members of Vigil.
