SELECT A CHARACTER
Sharon Curmen
Sharon and her family live in Aptos, California, a coastal town just south
of Santa Cruz. When she was fifteen years old and on a trip to San Francisco,
she was caught in a drive-by shooting incident that left her paralyzed from
the waist down. Furthermore, her condition was not stable, and as time went
on the parts of her that were not paralyzed began to become weaker. Though
her doctors believed they could keep her on life support almost indefinitely,
she was slowly losing the use of her hands, arms, and even her voice.
When she was twenty years old, an incredible thing happened to her, and she
was completely healed.
Sharon is an exceptionally intelligent young woman and a lifelong skeptic.
Even after she was struck by lightning and restored to full health, she refused
to simply accept that it was some sort of supernatural miracle. Her investigations
have led her to the discovery that her body now absorbs and metabolizes raw
electricity in some way. This ability not only allows her body to heal severe
damage to itself, but also, as she discovered one dangerous night, lets her
temporarily enhance her physical strength and speed. Though she does not know
the full extent of her abilities, she has come to grudgingly accept that she
is something more than human.
Her only clue to her true nature so far is a story told by her grandmother
about her true grandfather -- a man that Stella Wincott believed to be the
devil. While Sharon doesn't trust her grandmother any farther than she could
comfortably spit a rat, she has embarked with her sister on a quest to find
evidence of who their real grandfather was... and what legacy they have inherited
through his bloodline.
Sharon has a prodigious mind, and is miles ahead of her peers in her
understanding of advanced engineering. After her paralysis she began to
work almost full-time for her father's business, Curmen Enterprises, which
specializes in cutting-edge industrial and military engineering. She already
has several patents under her belt for specialized software she's designed,
and she is independently wealthy.
Though she has a buoyant spirit, Sharon was growing bitter and jaded as her
health worsened. Now that she is healed, the joy of life has opened up for
her once more. Sharon is sharp-tongued, irreverent, and often mercurial in
her temperament. She loves her sister, Gail, more than anybody in the world,
in spite of their rather profound differences about religion.
