Having the sisters go to New Orleans has been part of the story of Thunderstruck for a long time. What happened to New Orleans this year with Hurricane Katrina, however, was not. My first idea with regards to the story was to simply ignore what happened -- after all, Thunderstruck is its own reality, and up to this point I never firmly established the year in which it was set.

However, as the shock of the tragedy abated, I started to realize that there was a way to wrap reality into fiction here that, I hope, will make for a better tale. So now, Thunderstruck is anchored in time, and Hurricane Katrina is set to make an entrance.
